CCBSA Schools Recycling Awards
Every year Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) invites primary and high schools in rural and/or disadvantaged areas to participate in the Schools Recycling Programme which culminates in an annual prizegiving ceremony, where cash prizes are awarded to the top achievers.
We have worked on the CCBSA Schools Recycling Awards since it’s inception in 2014 and have produced this remarkable event for 5 years running.
In 2017, we themed this event ‘We recycle, do you?’ and created all the décor elements out of recycled materials, from the flowers to the chandeliers: everything was upcycled. We chose 1 Fox Street as the venue because not only is it big enough to accommodate the 450 people who attended the awards but it’s an upcycled venue in the heart of Johannesburg.
The top schools win cash prizes and the money is used to improve the schools’ infrastructure. Aside from providing jobs for collectors and schools recycling representatives, the programme educates learners on the importance of recycling and converts them into recycling ambassadors: they take what they’ve learnt home to their communities and families, teaching the importance of recycling and looking after our environment.
To recognise and reward the schools and the students for their efforts to recycle PET, cans and paper post-consumer waste.
This event was conceptualized and executed by MagicMonkey, including full project management, event management, planning, production, décor (created out of recycled materials), all technical requirements, video and content development.
We have produced this event for the past five years. In 2016, we produced a show using a mix of various dance styles, song and storytelling to entertain the guests. Instruments and costumes were created from recycled materials.
